There's a wild wind blowing down the corner of my street

WHO: James Sunderland (Silent Hill) and Meranda Leeds (OC)
WHERE: I don't think we're in Maine anymore, Toto...
WHEN: Roughly eight months post-SH2. Gravityverse/RPverse.
WHAT: No one can control when or if they get sent on an adventure. In fact, logic dictates that adventures will usually strike at the least convenient time.
This is what is about to happen to Meranda Leeds.
And also to the hapless hobo in an army coat who has no idea who she is and just kind of wants to find a missing little girl and go back to eking out an existence.
RATING: PG-13 for violence, language, and Meranda.

You know how sometimes, for no real reason, the temperature of the day just sort of drops? It's not even strange enough to be considered supernatural-- usually it's just annoying and inexplicable and makes you go 'Man, the temperature really dropped, didn't it? It was so much nicer a few hours ago!'

When the doors to the subway train whooshed open, a draft of air that was far colder than the admittedly chilly breeze that had been floating around when she'd gotten ON the train would rush in, making the other people in the car shiver miserably and pull their coat collars and scarves (ones that all seemed a bit heavier and possibly even differently-colored than the ones that had been there when they'd all gotten on?) tighter around themselves.

The platform beyond was empty-- not too surprising given the sudden bitterness of the night. Not even usual 'public subway' smell hung in the air-- it was just too cold for that, and it almost sucked the heat right out of the underground tunnels. Whose bright idea was it to have those staircases go straight up into the outside without any doors, anyway?

The car emptied quickly. Nobody wanted to be out on a night like this.
