He'd been investigating... that.
When he found out I'd seen him, he told me.
[It's probably for the best that Heather doesn't know that Laura herself is the victim that got Cooper on the case.]
[Otherwise even she would have a hard time staying hopeful.]
... I know he can get into your head. Say things that nobody should know. Like he's known you forever.
